Heidi Klum was born to father Gunther who used to work in a cosmetic company, mother Erna who was a hairdresser. When she was in high school, she never thought of becoming a model. When Heidi was 18, she came across a model competition, though she was interested, her friend encouaged to enter into the competition and to everybody’s surprise, she came out as a winner of this contest.

After winning this contest, Heidi Klum was immediately signed by a metropolitan modeling agency. Initially she did modeling in Paris and Milan and later moved overseas for big modeling offers. Heidi was at peak at that time and she and success were running hand in hand. She appeard in many print advertisement, some brand names are Bonne Bell, Amarige, Finesse, Gerry Weber.

Heidi Klum has graced the cover of all big magazine of the fashion industry like Cosmopolitan, Self, Glamour, Bride’s, Mademoiselle but what made her hit was when she came on cover page of sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She also did a cat walk for Victoria’s Secret. Apart from modeling, Heidi had some more facet, which started coming out after some time.

Heidi Klum has shown appearance in some movies like “Blow Dry” in which she played the role of a hair model, “Ella Enchanted” as a giantess and “The Life and Death of Peter Sellers as Ursula Andress. Other than movies Heidi has also acted in TV shows which includes “spin city” and “sex and the city”. But the show which really increased her fame was reality show Project Runway, in this she is host and Judge both. In this show fashion designers compete with each other to show their line in New York fashion week. She is also the host and judge of Germany's Next Top Model tv show.

Heidi Klum has shown her appearance in many music videos like Jamiroquai's video "Love Foolosophy", Kelis's "Young, Fresh N' New". In 2006, she recorded her own single Wonderland, which was for a series of advertisement for retailor “Douglas”. Heidi even appeared on a James Bond video game Everything or Nothing. She is an artist as well, she made sculptures “Dogs and butterflies” which she dedicated to commamorate the role of resue dogs in September 11. She has own clothing line “Otto”. She has also designed shoes for company Birkenstock and jewelery for Mouawad.

In personal life, Heidi Klum married to hairstylist Ric Pippino but they divorced in 2002. Later she dated with Anthony Kiedis, and Philip Zevenbergen for small time. In 2005, Heidi got married to musician Seal. Before marriage she gave birth to a daughter Helene "Leni" Klum which was from her former boyfriend Flavio Briatore. In 2005, she gave birth to her first son, Henry Günther Ademola Dashtu Samuel, which was from Seal. One year later she gave birth to her second son Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel.
